..., as its name suggests, is a visually appealing and engaging learning tool for students... The graphics and instructional visuals are excellent. (See how lines are used to show the "vanishing point" in the artwork "The School of Athens.")

The investigative experiments and exercises are well designed, easy to use, and demonstrate clearly the concepts the student is learning. I particularly was impressed at the level of sophistication, depth, and yet "user-friendliness," of these activities; they stretch the student´s abilities and make connections to the algebraic and the geometric. (See the exercise using circles, squares and symmetry).

The integration of the visual, geometric and algebraic are in step with the NCTM standards, incorporating some data analysis along the way. The voice-overs contribute to a sense that the student is not working in isolation, as well as giving added appeal to the reading.

This is an excellent tool for self-study... or as an aid in a regular course situation.

It´s been very useful to me in the past month or so with Geometry class, I actually understand it better. It (Visual Plane Geometry) came the other day with plenty of time still before the final. You saved me from getting a bad grade. It´s a very helpful program...

I really enjoy your CDs and have been able to use them in my classes. I feel that they really help the students see visually what is happening.

I would hope to see some more of this kind of technology in the areas of my higher math classes too.

Sincerely,

Wes Sheldon, Math Instructor, Springville High School and UVSC

I sent an USPS money order for the above mentioned software on Monday April 2 2001. It arrived today (April 5 2001). Thank you for such timely shipping.

After a short review of the program I had to let you know what I think. I have priced, and tried, far more expensive packages, but your software beats anything I have ever seen.

The structure of the lessons is logical and concise while conveying more than enough information to teach the subject matter. The animations are clear and informative. This will be a valuable teaching tool.

On behalf of myself and my sixteen year old daughter...Thank You.

Feedback from Dr. Jim Brant

Elementary/Junior High Review Committee

"My students like to use the CD activities and materials during free time. It helps to reinforce what we have learned in class."

"We (teachers) formed a study group and used the tapes and CD to review, relearn, and discuss geometric ideas and relationships." It was also reported that the tapes and CD materials helped teachers generate instructional ideas for their classrooms (Dr. Jim Brant).

"I use segments of the tapes to introduce new ideas and concepts in geometry. Then we use manipulatives and worksheets to explore, practice, and reinforce the concepts that were introduced."

High School Review Committee

"I use some of the CD material to introduce new concepts and lessons. Later students use the disk to review material or as a make up lesson if they were absent when the material was presented."

"We use the materials for independent study, remediation classes, and student review. The students seem to get a lot out of the material."

"Everyone I have talked to has had good, positive things to say about the material."

Review From School Library Journal...

Geometry Image
MSRP: $29.95
This visually exciting and riveting video uses computer animation, live-action video, and graphics to explain geometric shapes and principles. A male voice narrates over expertly executed cuts between the animation and live footage, with unobtrusive music enhancing the presentation. The video provides a general overview of geometry, followed by short sections on plane, solid, and non-Euclidean geometry. Each is handled using correct terminology, and then visually explained by comparing shapes such as leaves and snails to buildings and bridges and then to basic geometric shapes.

The credits list math and science curriculum consultants as well as education consultants. Their input is evident in the serious content combined with an appealing visual format. Viewers will be mentally challenged and fascinated. World of Geometry would be an excellent instructional tool for mathematically gifted or extremely inquisitive elementary grade students, and would be right on target for middle school classes.
