Experiment: The Expression (A sin x + B cos x)

Objective

Visually demonstrate how the amplitude of the sine function and the amplitude of the cosine function affect the shape of the graph (A sin x + B cos x).

User´s Guide

  1. Use the slider "sin amplitude" to change the amplitude of the sine function.
  2. Use the slider "cos amplitude" to change the amplitude of the cosine function.

Suggested Experiments

  1. Adjust the slider "sin amplitude" to make the amplitude zero. Watch what the graph (A sin x + B cos x) changes to.

  2. Click the button "Reset." Adjust the slider "cos amplitude" to make the amplitude zero. Watch what the graph (A sin x + B cos x) changes to.

  3. Change A, or B, or both to a desired value(s). Watch how each one affects the shape of the graph (A sin x + B cos x).
